Poetry Challenge Day 14: Form

My Words

*My attempt at a sestina poem. I used a random word generator site for the six words.
I used the first six that came up.*

When the world ends and the lights
go out from the foundation of reason,
maybe then we can let the factor
of love replace the cliche of an iron
will. To build children with what they deserve
instead of last place medals.

Time will always rust medals.
And I know that there is dark and light
in the world. We do not always get what we deserve.
We question why, but there is no reason
Beyond the fact that we are iron
forged by more than one factor.

Every hour, every minute, is a factor
in the way we live, medal
earned or not. Many forget that iron
is first a tamahagane nugget, then light
and fire, heat of 900 degrees is the reason
we build strength to become; to deserve

a life lived. Time and love deserve
more than a watch or hallmark factor
for us to finally see the reason
that scrapbooks, trophies or medals
pale to a set of eyes with light
shining through them. Eyes can melt iron

and steel. A will of iron
is not the only thing we deserve
in this world. Heart light
can dispense darkness, too. A factor
known by those who strive for a medal
not won by a race, but by the reason

that this life has numbered days. By reason
that the pen is mightier than iron
chains. Bend your neck for the medal
Because life will give you what you deserve.
I will pass a victory on the court for the factor
of my children’s eyes filled with light.

The candle light keeps the dark’s reason
at bay. My heart’s factor was forged through pain like iron.
These words deserve more than that last place medal.
