Poetic Form 48: Epitaph

Let my words speak for me.
Let them show you how to be free
to love, to live, to open your heart to see.

Poetic Form #48: Epitaph
An epitaph is a note that appears on a tombstone. It is usually brief and often rhymes.
Epitaphs try to get the reader thinking about the subject of the tombstone.

Poetic Form 12: Gogyohka

Today

Watch the sun rise
fill the smiles
of children playing
on blue swings and yellow slides
as the sun sets

Poetic Form #12: Gogyohka

The only rule is that the poem is comprised of five line. The lines tend to be short, following the tradition of Japanese short verses.

Poetry Challenge Day 7: Lucky

Lucky in Love

A field blossomed in green
Walking with no purpose
They stop to watch a hawk
Seeking a meal to surface

He wonders if she is the one
Smile shines, eyes hold
Him like a blanket keeping
At bay, the winter cold

He glances down at
His feet to see a patch
Of clovers, he kneels
A four leaf clover he grasps

She follows the hawk’s
Flight through the sky
Wishing to be free
Turns to him and sighs

He is standing up
Smiles and holds out
The clover for her
To see the leaf count

Silence between them
He feels happy, lucky
She understand she needs
freedom, that is the key

She kisses his cheek, leaves
Him falling, spirit now weak
