Another Year
And the sunrises like any day
before. With tired eyes we say,

Poetic Form #72: Cywydd Llosgyrnog
The Welsh form, Cywydd Llosgyrnog, is a syllabic-based form with internal
rhymes. The structure has six-lines. Lines 1, 2, 4, and 5 have 8 syllables with
lines 1 and 2 rhyming as well as lines 4 and 5. Then lines 3 and 6 have 7 syllables
and rhyme with each other. Also, line 3 has an internal rhyme with lines 1 and 2.
Line 6 has an internal rhyme with lines 4 and 5. The internal rhymes can be
flexible on which syllable it lands in the middle of the line. It would look like this:
