I’m praying at the black jack table, I’ll
“Hit” on hand of seventeen. Ace dealt out.
Lady luck has a beautiful smile.
Always dealt the best, take the lower route.
Eighteen is strong, but I need the payout.
I feel it, this is the time I tell her.
This makes the bad luck worth it. Voice bolder,
“Hit!” I am dealt 5 diamonds. Bust. Hope slips.
The waitress doesn’t stop at my shoulder.
Dealer smiles, taking my stack of chips.
